About Lockout Watch

Lockout Watch is an independent fan site that tracks the negotiations between baseball's owners and the players' union over the collective bargaining agreement that will govern the 2027 through 2031 seasons. The current agreement expires at 11:59 p.m. ET on Dec. 1, 2026.

How it's made

Every morning we review the latest reporting from outlets such as the Associated Press, ESPN, The Athletic, CBS Sports, MLB.com, Sportico and others, and update the status, dates, proposals and timeline. Summaries are written in our own words and every item links to its source so you can read the original. The process is assisted by AI and checked against the cited reporting.

The watch level is our editorial read of that reporting on a 1 to 5 scale. It is not a prediction or a probability.

Lockout Watch is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Major League Baseball, any of its clubs or the Major League Baseball Players Association. Team and league names are used only to describe the news.
